Trying to get the word to Asterix people that I have four first edition hardcovers (original French) from the 60s at sale on Amazon. Don't know how else to get them into the hands of people who want them: I bought them new in the 60s (I'm now 65! ). Also don't know if collectors look at Amazon (very new at this internet business).

This is definitely a series of comics for adults with a seriously intellectual turn of mind! One must be word perfect with European history and culture to understand the humor. No wonder it does not sell well in the 'States. I cannot even count the number of times I have been in stitches reading this stuff and I hate to say this but I feel that people that do not see the humor in these comics need a serious brain transplant. If any fellow Asterix fans around the world share my feelings do drop me a line. I would appreciate it

I had great respect for the books and the language used in them. I raised my son to be bi-lingual in German and English and used the books to good advantage. The stories and the premise were strong in interest and we have often sat down with one and browsed them bringing up very strong feelings of nostalgia.

Great page! Lots of good information. Asterix is international as all must be! I grew up on Asterix devouring them in first year of Primary School. Later I read the French at the Start of High School. Its a shame that Asterix are not easy easy to find, but they are in every library over here. One point of interest. In the great French film "La Haine"(Hate) two criminal characters named Asterix and Obelix are translated(by Americans) as Tweety and Sylvester! Work that out!

I have read Asterix since I was a little boy and that little boy is now 30 years old.But I still read Asterix and I have singned up to get all the Asterix albums in a series of 11 books, that contains all Asterix stories and also contains previously unreleased material and some other stuff.I have always loved reading Asterix and are enjoying it even more as an adult than I did as a child.That probably because I understand the humour better than when I was a child. When I was a kid at high school in Sydney, there was a group of kids who would gather in the library and read and reread the Asterix and Tintin books. Both groups were "intelligent", but it was the Asterix readers who tended to get the better marks in, and gravitate towards the humanities based subjects. I think the all-time classic Asterix book was "Asterix in Britain". The French poking fun at the British - it was excellent.
