TdF Stage 18: July 21, 2011Stage 18 (200km) was one of the toughest of this year's race with three hors categorie cols including the highest ever stage finish at the Galibier (2645m). Several men escaped in the earlier stage but it was an attack by Andy Schleck at the second mountain which got the most attention. He shook off the other men from the breakaways and won the stage. Thomas Voeckler of France had another good day and held on to the yellow jersey by 15 seconds. The stage in the game was won by Michael Gesner of the USA. Milda Nesters from the same country was second and third place was shared by Achille Alberti (Switzerland), Bernie Oegema (Canada) and Roberto Sabadini (Italy). John Silverio remains the overall leader in the game. Nicolas Desgranges of France is new in the top 3 at second place, seven points behind the leader. Roy Kluten (The Netherlands) remains third.
