TdF Stage 21: July 24, 2011

Roy Kluten of The Netherlands has won the Internet Tour de France Game 2011. The second-time participant collected the most points of the overall top ten after yesterday and beat former leader John Silverio (Canada) by four points. Silverio took second place and Phil Hancox (UK) finished third in the game.

The twentieth stage was quite short (95km) and finished with the traditional laps on the Champs-Élysées. Six men escaped but they were caught two km before the line. The HTC team performed another fine display of team work and their Mark Cavendish won his fifth stage of this Tour. He takes the green jersey. Cadel Evans becomes the first Australian to win the Tour. The brothers Andy and Frank Schleck are second and third respectively. Samuel Sanchez wins the polkadot jersey for the best climber and Pierre Rolland claims the white jersey for best young rider.

The final stage in the game was won by Ton de Groot of The Netherlands. LJ Streed (Sweden) was second and Erik Huygen (The Netherlands) finished third.

This was a nice edition of the Tour with many interesting stages. It was a good idea of the organization to include more mountain stages and make the stages shorter.

The game was nice as well. Thank you all for participating and see you back in 2012!
