TdF Stage 21: July 23, 2000

E. Gaas of The Netherlands has won the Internet Tour de France Game 2000. In the final stage he obtained one more point than his co-leader after stage 20, fellow-countryman Wil Gommans, and this was just enough to capture the top position in the overall rankings.

As usual, the final stage with finish in Paris resulted in a peloton sprint. This time Stefano Zanini of Italy was the fastest. Zabel finished second and Vainsteins third. The Tour de France 2000 was won by Lance Armstrong (USA). He takes home the yellow jersey for the second year in a row. The other jerseys go to Erik Zabel (green), Santiago Botero (polka dot) and Francis Mancebo (white). In the overall rankings Jan Ullrich (Germany) takes second place while Joseba Beloki (Spain) is third.

The stage in the game was won by Zulpicher (Ireland). Second and third place went to Geert Schoenmakers (The Netherlands) and Wimpie St. (Belgium) respectively. E. Gaas collects one more point than his co-leader Wil Gommans in this stage. Like last year the final difference between the number one and two in the overall rankings is just one point. Ferry Deurloo does very well to advance to third place, just four points behind winner Gaas. The final top three only contains participants from The Netherlands.

It has been a pleasure to organize this game. If you have any comments, you can enter them in the guestbook. See you all next year!
