TdF Stage 17: July 24, 2003

In the first flat stage after the Pyrenees, there was an early breakaway group which lasted until the finish. Servais Knaven (The Netherlands) escaped from the 10-man group 17 km from the finish. He won the stage. There were no changes in the top of the general classification. Lance Armstrong (USA) holds on to the yellow jersey.

The most popular rider in the stage top 10 today is Dutchman Leon van Bon who has been included in 20 game teams. This means that few participants have managed to get points today: only 87 of the 1352. The stage was won by the number last of the overall rankings, Miranda Goudbeek of The Netherlands. Her choice of a team with only Dutch and Belgian riders finally pays off now that 3 Dutchmen finish in the stage top 10. Piers Gilbert (UK) was second and Mark van Gils (Finland) and Thomas Isacson (Sweden) shared third place. There were no changes in the top of the overall rankings. Belinda Ward (USA), Nagrom Skubidi (Norway) and Lou Solko (USA) remain 1, 2 and 3.

Note: the team of J.L. Golden has been removed because he later had submitted another team. Both teams were participating in the game while only one is allowed per participant.
