The nineteenth stage was an individual time trail over 55 km. The Germans Jan Ullrich and Andreas Kloden had an excellent race, about one minute faster than the rest, but once again Lance Armstrong (USA) was outstanding: one minute faster than Ullrich. Armstrong won the stage and extended his lead in the overall rankings to six-and-a-half minutes. Kloden is second now ahead of Ivan Basso.
Cliff Murrell (USA) won the stage today. Fellow countryman Keith Kelchner was second and two other Americans, Oscar Dumas and Stacy Chase, shared third place with Andries Joubert from South Africa. In the overall rankings, there is the expected change at the top. We have a new overall leader: Jan Matheeuwwsen from The Netherlands. Storcky Lejo (Germany) is second and John Hamill (USA) moves up from place 8 to place 3.
Former leader Arthur Denneman (The Netherlands) dropped to fourth place but he still has the best chances to win the game. In flat stages, Denneman's team obtained on average nine more points than the others in the top five of the overall rankings. Presently he is six points behind the lead so his opponents can only hope that something extraordinary will happen in the final flat stage on Sunday, like a successful breakaway group or the yellow jersey finishing in the top ten of the stage.
