TdF Stage 8: July 09, 2006Finally in the stage eight (181 km) a long break succeeded. Sylvain Calzati (France) was two minutes ahead of the rest at the line. Two more members of the early break finished ahead of the big group. Robbie McEwen won the peoloton sprint. Serguei Gonchar kept the yellow jersey. Since there were many sprinters in the top ten, we find the usual suspects back in the top of the game results. Dimitri van Agterveld of The Netherlands won his second stage by obtaining one more point than overall leader Bevo Gallagher (USA). 2004 game winner Arthur Denneman (The Netherlands) shared third place with Z. Pascal of the same country. Bevo Gallagher remains the overall leader but number two Dimitri van Agterveld is only four points behind him. Dutchman Arjen Pijfers moves up to the third spot. Tomorrow is a rest day.
