Average choice of the participants

This is a list of the most popular Tour de France cyclists among the 646 participants in the Internet Tour de France Game 2006. Every time that a cyclist appears at the first place of a team list he receives 15 points, for a second place 14 points and so on. All these points have been added together and the result is this list which represents the average choice of the participants in this game. Lance Armstrong has retired and for the first time in five years there is a new leader, last year's runner-up Robbie McEwen. Tom Boonen (third in 2005) is second and Thor Hushovd (sixth in 2005) is third. Thirty one of the 176 riders have not been included in any team. Last year this number was 18.

The top 15 of this list have been used for creating the artificial competitor Jan Modaal (the Dutch version of John Doe).

This list contains the points of each cyclist together with his name and the number of participants that have chosen him in their teams (between brackets). The number of points has been computed by awarding 15 points for every first position in a team, fourteen for every second position and so on.
