Another unusual stage today: an individual time-trial already in stage 4, rather than in the first weekend. The stage was also a lot shorter than usual: just under 30 km rather than 50 km. Stefan Schumacher (Germany) was the surprise winner of the stage. He managed to beat specialists like David Millar and Fabian Cancellara. Schumacher also collected the yellow jersey.
The stage in the game was won by Mat Butterworth (Australia) with an impressive 16-point lead over second-placed Baywatch Bell (USA). Tanja Arts of The Netherlands was third. In the overall rankings Mike Lennon of Canada has claimed the top spot. Fellow-countryman Chad Lennon (Canada) is second while third place is shared by Andrew Howard (USA), Eugene Daemen (The Netherlands) and Rw Freeman (USA).
