In the twelfth stage of 168 km there was the usual break which did not last. Instead the stage finished with the expected bunch sprint. Mark Cavendish of the UK won his third stage. Cadel Evans kept the yellow jersey.
This stage was a good opportunity for the teams with strong sprinters to collect points in the game. Today there were two stage winners: Evert Molanus of The Netherlands and Marco Alter of the same country. This is the second stage victory for Molanus. Earlier, he won stage 5. Daniel McQuillen (USA) was third in the stage. In the overall rankings, Omar Almaini (UK) remains in the lead. Bryan Stout of New Zealand drops to second place and Tom Denters (The Netherlands) is the new number three.
Today, eight riders left the race. The most popular in the game were Riccardo Ricco (failed a drug test; member of 151 game teams) and Baden Cooke (crashed; 60).
