The fifteenth stage (182 km) contained two tough climbs with the finish line on the second top. Four men escaped early in the race and built a lead of 16 minutes. Because of two nasty crashes in the peloton, the main group did not manage to catch them. Two men sprinted for the finish line and Australia's Simon Gerran won the stage. Behind the four leaders, the best ten riders of the overall rankings battled for the yellow jersey. Frank Schleck of Luxembourg turned out to be the strongest. He took the jersey with seven seconds to spare on Bernhard Kohl and eight on Cadel Evans.
After three days of stage wins for Evert Molanus, today Jörgen Jonzon of Sweden collected the largest number of points in the game. Robert Hale (USA) and Wicher Otten (The Netherlands) missed the top stage position by just one point. Bryan Stout of New Zealand remains the overall leader. He extended his lead over second-placed Omar Almaini (UK) to eleven points. Emanuel Correia (Portugal) and Tom Denters (The Netherlands) complete the overall top three.
Today, four riders left the race. The most popular in the game were Mark Cavendish (member of 243 game teams) and Oscar Pereiro (71). Earlier, Sebastien Chavanel was listed as having arrived too late but apparently he was pardoned.
Tomorrow, Monday 21 July 2008, is a rest day in the Tour.
