The second individual time trial of the race (53 km) had the same winner as the first one: Stefan Schumacher of Germany. Behind him, the top five of the overall rankings battled for the yellow jersey. Race leader Carlos Sastre successfully defended his one and a half minute lead over Cadel Evans (Australia). Evans climbs to second place and Bernhard Kohl of Austria is the surprising third.
No success for Australia in the race but in the game Mat Butterworth (Australia) won his second time trial stage. Again Baywatch Bell (USA) is second while fellow countryman David Morgan moves up one spot to share third place with Andrew Tombs (UK). In the overall rankings, Tom Denters from The Netherlands extends his lead to second placed Bryan Stout (New Zealand) to 30 points. Sandra Cunliffe (UK/England) remains third. The latter two should hope that something extraordinary happens at the finish of the last stage tomorrow. If the stage in Paris finishes with a bunch sprint then Tom Denters will win the game.
