TdF Stage 2: July 7, 1997

With 262 km today's stage was the longest of the Tour 1997. The race ended in another sprint finish which abled Mario Cipollini of Italy to proof again that he is the strongest sprinter at the moment. He holds the yellow yersey as well. A. Gonzalez did not start today.

Jack Habets from the Netherlands became the winner of the first 1997 stage that was included in the game. The difference between him and the joint numbers 2 Arie Hordijk (USA) and Remko Achten (The Netherlands) was large.
