The first category mountain Croix halfway this stage broke the peloton in several parts. A group of 30 cyclists which included most of the strong ones in the Tour this year arrived first at the finish in Fribourg in Switzerland. Christoph Mengin from France won the final sprint. There were five dropouts. The most important was M. Gianetti (member of 30 teams).
Andy Starsky (USA) won the stage today. He finished just before Victor M. Francisco-Suarez (Spain) and Kevin Albertson (USA). No changes in the top of the overall rankings. The three Dutchmen René Leerdam, Kees Winder and Wim Hoefs remain on the first three places. Leerdam extends his lead over Winder to 15 points. With his total score of 675 points our game leader has set the highest all time total game score. The previous high score was 666 points, the final score of Frank Koper (The Netherlands) in 1995.
