The individual time trial over 52 km produced the three strongest cyclists of the Tour in the top three. Jan Ullrich of Germany won the stage with Bobby Julich of the USA on second place and Italian Marco Pantani on third place. The stage win enabled Ullrich to go past Julich to second place in the overall rankings. Marco Pantani retains the yellow jersey.
The stage in the game was won by Mike Johanson from the USA. Four of his top six cyclists finished in the stage top ten. Two other Americans complete the top three: Jack Price obtained a second place for the second time and David Fink finishes on place three. In the overall rankings the difference between number two Lee Rusk (USA) and leader Tako Molanus (The Netherlands) decreases to 13 points. For the fifth time in a row we have a new number three and this time it is Hans Splinter of The Netherlands.
Tomorrow the cyclists will compete in the final stage of the Tour de France 1998. The final stage usually ends with a sprint finish. If the results are the same as in the last sprint finish then Tako Molanus of The Netherlands will become the winner of this edition of the game. Eight participants are currently in contention for places two and three.
