The 208 km first stage of this Tour has resulted in a sprint finish. Jaan Kirsipuu (Estonia) has won the stage. Top favorite Cipollini was unable to get a good position in the start of the sprint and could not compete for the first place. Lance Armstrong (USA) keeps the yellow jersey.
