TdF Stage 2: July 05, 1999

After the first stage the 176 km second stage also ended in a sprint finish. This time Tom Steels of Belgium was the strongest. Jaan Kirsipuu from Estonia took over the yellow jersey. There were several crashes today. One of them caused the peloton to break in several parts. Tour favorites Zulle, Gotti, Boogerd and Rinero ended up in the second group and finished more than six minutes behind Steels. Boardman lost more than fifteen minutes.

All major sprinters finished in the first group and this has enabled the participants in the game to obtain fantastic score. Today's winner is Dick Blom from The Netherlands. He had the complete stage top ten in his team. Blom's stage score of 107 points is a new overall stage record in the game. Fellow countrymen Jacco Konijn and Rien Post finished second and third. Seven players managed to get 100+ points today.

Two cyclists dropped out today. The most important one was Jonathan Vaughters (member of 53 game participant teams).
