The 14th stage over 199 km has developed in the same way as the three previous stages. A group escaped from the pack early in the race and managed to stay away until the finish. Dimitri Konyshev finished first today. Lance Armstrong kept the yellow jersey.
Good news for the people with sprinters in the team: the break-away group contained only six man so the numbers seven to ten in the stage result included some top sprinters. The stage in the game was won by Russell Barrett from Australia. Steve Lewis (USA) and Tom Mossong (Luxembourg) shared second place. In the top of the overall rankings Michael Botzet of Germany remains at place one. Erix Schokker (New Zealand/The Netherlands) has passed Martin Brilleman (The Netherlands) and is now at place two with Brilleman on third place. Earlier game results for this stage have changed on July 19 after the disqualification of the number nine in the stage, Robbie McEwen.
In the last two stages three cyclists have left the race. Tomorrow is a rest day. On Tuesday the Tour will enter the Pyrenees.
