The American government offers US$ 50.000 to anyone that is able to bring mail from Sacramento in California to St. Joseph in Missouri. William H. Russel accepts the challenge. He founds the Pony Express and asks Lucky Luke to train the horseback riders. But men from the Pacific Railroad company try to sabotage his plans...
